Black Lives Matter V All Lives Matter

My heart has been hurt by the killings of African-amercian men in the United states by the police. It is heart breaking to watch these events play out on my tv screen in London. After the news outlets move on to the next news item  what happens to these families. Their sense of injustice, pain and lack of answers must be excruciating.

Yes all lives matter in theory but when I look at the realty of that statement all lives do not appear not to matter. The equality  and justice for all is not being reflected. The value of the lives of some citizens appears to be of higher value if you belong to a particular community and lower if you belong to another.

Earlier this year I visited Macon in Georgia and as I looked at the buildings and streets that James Brown, Otis Reading and Little Richard visited I tried to imagine what it must have been like for them living and breathing in air filled with segregation.

Yes great progress has been made in so many areas but the fundamentals of living in a society that stand equality and justice for all is still a distant dream. Watching the news reports in 2016 has not changed since the news reports of early 1960’s. Its the same fifty plus years on. Why is it the same? its the same because we have a group of people still fighting for their right to be heard and understood by the country they live in. They are not being heard and understood. Understanding will only start to come when the shoe is placed on the  foot of  those who walk by in silence and and turn their heads and hearts away as if it not happening.

Yes all lives matter but some lives more than others are being lost in an environment that’s judges based on skin colour. RIP to all those who lost their lives in situations where their lives did not matter.

But you, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head ~ Psalms 3:3 (Amplified Bible)

I remember during a certain period of my life that the only glory I had was that of the Lord. I fasted until I could fast no more, I prayed and prayed and prayed until I felt I could pray no more. But you know in the midst of the intense onslaught of the enemy the Lord showed me and covered me with his glory. His glory brought an unusual peace, it became my shield, defence and shelter.

During times of pain and hopelessness the Lord was my glory! When I cried and could not see my way out the Lord was my glory! When I felt like giving up the Lord was my glory!

He was and still is the shield and protector of my heart. Sometimes I don’t know what to say in prayer and all I can do is thank him from my heart,  my heart that he covers with his love.

I would like to encourage you dear heart, that Jesus wants to be your glory and strength. You will daily face challenges but be assured that daily he will lift your head.

Be Blessed!

Drinking from a Deeper Well

I was in the library doing some studying and to take a break I was glacing through an old Ebony magazine and came across the story of a successful pastor whose older sister committed suicide, she had mental health issues. He said it shook his faith to the core but he realised he had to drink from a “deeper well” to recover. This pastor had to dig deeper in his faith in God to continue to drink living water to cope with this tragedy.

I have had to dig deeper in the wells of my bible, pray and worship to cope with many painful situations. The wells of God’s word never run dry. The things of God never run dry, the river is always running but we have to position ourselves to drink.

When I suffered personal pain and loss, I shut myself away and dug deeper. As I poured out to Father God in prayer, tears and worship I experienced the river of his love wash over me and through me.

Is there anything that you are experiencing that is forcing you to drink from a deeper well. Dear Heart do not run from the well but run to it because there you will find the water of life that will quench your thirst.

Jesus told the woman at the well that the water I will give will cause you not to thirst again, it was a living water that ministered to the soul. When we are thirsty and need a drink, identify good quality water because there are many polluted sources. When you are well identify your good sources so that when you hurt you know where to go.

Dear heart, keep drinking that living water and when life throws things at you and that well dries up, don’t stop but dig another well.

Sow in Tears Reap in Joy

Nearly all of us at one time or another have shed tears about situations or people close to our heart. Our tears are a reflection from the overflow of pain.

Pslams 126:5 says “They that sow in tears shall reap in Joy”. The bible also says that God shall wipe all tears from our eyes. When the reaping season comes our tears of pain and anguish will be wiped away and replaced with tears of Joy.

Your tears are never wasted they ascend to God as a living memorial of your request to him. Psalms 56:8 says that God collects our tears and keeps them in a bottle. Can you imagine the amount of bottles God has and yet he is intimate with each tear drop in each bottle.

Do you remember the tears of anguish Hannah cried to God in 1st Samuel chapter 1? She desperately wanted a child and the chapter states that she was in “bitterness” of soul about her longing.

What ever situation you have lifted up to God in prayer, your tears of sorrow will be turned to tears of Joy. Continue to cast that burden up to God, release your heart to him in prayer because he has you and the situation you are going through in his hand. He has promised to never leave you or forsake you. He has said that his name is written in the palm of his hand.

The Lord is your glory and the lifter of your head (Pslam 3:3). Be encouraged dear heart for The Lord himself is your refuge and strength. Your time to reap is around the corner.

The Alabaster Box

Matthew 26:6-13         John 12:1-8

Dear Heart,

What is it that is so precious to you that you have had to sacrifice? Sacrifice is relative and what’s a sacrifice to one person may not be to another. The above passages from the bible tells of a woman who sacrificed something that cost her a years’ salary. The bible describes it as a very precious ointment that she used to anoint the head of Jesus. The disciples were very angry about the way she used the ointment and that it was a waste because it should have been sold and the proceeds used to feed the poor. Dear heart, whatever  you do for the sake of the Kingdom can never be wasted and you can never be disadvantaged.

The woman did something that remained with Jesus through his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, his arrest, his trial, crucifixion and death. Little did she know that this sacrificial act would make its way into the bible and prepare Jesus for the suffering he would encounter. Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 26:13 that wherever the gospel is preached this selfless act would be remembered as memorial.

Whatever dear heart you have sacrified for family, ministry,  job, whatever…… you will not and can never be disadvantaged. Why you may ask because you will reap what you sow ( Genesis 8:22) If you have sown love, sacrifice, faith then expect to reap the same. Whatsoever a man soweth, the same shall he also reap. You can not sow apples and reap oranges. Ensure dear heart whatever alabaster box you break to release the inner perfume, ensure it comes from a pure heart.  A heart that touches the throne of God, a heart that is free from bitterness, hatred, strife, anger and all other negative emotions because these thorns destroy the garden of your heart.

Don’t allow anyone to turn the beauty of heart from a cultivated garden to a thorn filled garden with no room for growth or beauty. It’s not worth it dear heart, let it go, let it go,  let it go…….. Forgiveness is a choice, choose life and live……..

Let us pray,

Dear Father I thank you for the precious person. I pray that whatever pain they are carrying in their heart that you will bring healing to their heart. Your word states that there is a balm in Gilead and you Jesus is that balm. Touch this precious reader, heal their hurting heart. Amen

Healing Hands, Healing Heart

You are not what you have been through

Every day people are called or  described by what they have been through. The bible talks of the woman with the issue of blood, we do not know her name. The deaf man, the blind man,  the boy who gave his lunch of 5 loaves and 3 fishes and the woman at the well,  to name a few.

People go through trauma’s that label them for life. Such statement like ” you know that woman who has 5 children who lives across the street” or ” that man who had the car accident last Tuesday” Have we ever thought of what their names are? On the other hand people can be described by the good things that have happened to them with statements like ” that man who won the lottery on the news” or ” that lady with the beautiful big brown eyes”.

If you have gone through pain, please know and belive that you are not the pain or trauma you have gone through. It is part of your experience and not your essence. A person who has to cross a river and becomes wet is not the river, they had to pass through it to get to the other side. The river was part of their experience and not their essence.

What have people described you as and which painful experience in your life have they used? Dear one you are not your experience, you are not the negative things people have called you at work, school or church?

Jesus calls you by your name because there is a uniqueness about you, you are one of a kind. Please do not allow your pain to become part of your mindset or entertain a belief of that’s how life is for me. No!!!!  Be transformed by the renewing of your mind because there is more to you than meets the eye and you are not your situations ans circumstances. Jesus came and died for you to be healed, to be loved and made whole and to be appreciated.

When I read my bible I continue to amazed about the love and care that Jesus had and still has. No body cares like he does, no body loves like he does! It is truly amazing. If he can care of the sparrow, can’t he care for you? Can you  receive his love and care! Dear one there is no one like Jesus. Put aside your philosophies about God and just open up your heart to him,  talk, share with him. Put your religion aside and embrace relationship with Jesus.

Dear one I have tried this and Jesus is turning a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly for his glory!!

From one butterfly to another
