Conquer Your Fears ~ Enter Your Destiny! Overcoming Your Fears

bible-verse-no-fears-4224203

Over coming our fears is an important factor to entering our destiny or trying something new. Fear keeps you in the same place day after day, week after week and before you realise it years have gone by and you have made no progress in life.

Below are three things to consider when taking steps to overcome your fears.

  1. If your fears are a result of things you have done in the past take a moment to repent and ask God to forgive you (1 John 1:9) and move on. Remember it is also important to forgive yourself.
  2. Getting adequate sleep in critical as not getting enough can cause depression, anxiety and impedes functions spiritually, emotionally and physically.
  3. Talking to some one can bring relief to situations that we are facing. Having another persons’ perspective can help evaluate situations. Counselling is another option to consider if professional help is needed.

I John 4:18 say “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”  Fear will keep you in torment and not able to enjoy the perfected love of Christ.

So my challenge to you today is to deal with your fears before it deals with you and steals the inner treasure of your heart.

Jesus Came

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.   Luke 4:18~19

Jesus came into the synagogue on the sabbath day and read from the book of Isaiah. After reading he said  “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears”.

This is one of my favourite scriptures. Jesus came to heal a broken world with a hurting heart. He did not only come to heal us physically but he also came to heal us emotionally. The broken heart, the hearts held in bondage, and kept in fear.

Your broken heart can be mended today. Take a moment to pray and ask God to come and heal your heart. Take those important steps to heal from bitterness, resentment, anguish, unforgiveness and in any other area where you hurt as it will only destroy you.

Be made whole In Jesus Name.

Do you have idols in your Heart?

www.1stfreewillbaptist.church/media/sermon-archive.html

Ezekiel 14:4-5       Colossians 3:5     Isaiah 44:9-20     Leviticus 4:19         Psalms 16:4

As Christians it is so important for us to do consistent heart checks on our selves so that we do not allow idols to form in our heart. An idol is anything that takes the place of God in our heart.

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines an idol as  “a picture or an object that is worshipped as a god”.

There are so many things that can be constituted as an idol such as our families, jobs, money, worries and cares, needs and desires and even our self.

In Tim Keller’s book “Counterfeit God’s: The empty promises of money, sex and power and the only hope that matters”, makes a powerful statement about “heart idols” in today’s society. He states that

…….Life only has meaning or I only have worth if …..

  1. I have power over others (power idolatry)
  2. I am loved and respected by …….. (approval idolatry)
  3. People are dependant on me and need me (helping idolatry)
  4. I have a particular kind of look or body image (image idolatry)
  5. I have a certain level of wealth, financial freedom and very nice possessions (materialism idolatry)

These are statements that we may have said or thought at one time or another. Do we secretly feel discontentment take root in our heart because we crave “nice things” and feel resentful about not having them. Materialism is not  necessarily about having nice things it is also about craving them. The discontentment can also prove to be an idol in our heart.

Ezekiel 14:4 the word “setteth up”  translates to transcend, to be high, to mount, arise up, to cast upward and to offer up. It also carried the connotation of an upward movement or an ascension to a higher place.

After reading this can you think for a moment and ask yourself the question, when I come to God in prayer do I come based on the multitude of idols in my heart?  Does  bitterness, unforgiveness, malice, pride or my own self importance occupy my heart more than who God is to me?

I try to check my heart daily  and clear my heart iof anything that wants to exalt itself greater than my father. It is not always an easy process but it can be done and must be done because in the end these things destroy and the things of God will always build.

Take a moment now and check your heart and prayerfully ask God to show you any idol or idols you may  have that is competing with HIM in your heart.

Climate Change

The climate change conference ended in Paris in December. Everyone is concerned about the impact of man’s over use of the earth’s resources and the changes that are occurring in the planets delicate Eco system.

Have you ever stopped to consider the impact your own words have on your daily life and your own spiritual climate? What are the changes that are occurring in our spirit when we become bitter, angry, resentful and unrepentant? What do you have to do to bring your own internal ecosystem back into alignment?

The power of love, repentance and forgiveness is a powerful trio that will help you to maintain a fruitful internal ecosystem.

Life’s Unanswered Questions

I was reading my daily devotional by Joyce Meyer a few days ago and she was sharing on life’s unanswered questions.

I am sure each person has a series of unanswered questions about their life or situations. Why did I have to go through that pain? I thought that person was my friend? I trusted that person why did they turn around and betray me? The list goes on.

I have a series of unanswered questions about a situation I faced over many years and I still have no answers and maybe I will never get an answer. But what I have done is taken the lessons I have learnt through it and used it for good to better myself and encourage others. I have refused to allow it to cast a shadow over who God created me to be or on my journey to living a great life. Yes I have been asking God questions about it but after sometime time I stopped asking because it was eroding my life journey and I was becoming bitter. I have one life to live and I intend to enjoy it.

What unanswered questions do you have? Is the situation still casting a shadow over your life? What steps are you planning to take to let it go and move on? I am not judging anyone here I just want to encourage you to change the path of your life by choosing to be happy and to not allow what happened to you to chain you to a painful past.

Choose today dear heart to let the questions go and start living!
