Steps to a New Beginning!

Image from Pixabay.com

The year 2016 was an eventful year in so many ways. As a global family we experienced many changes. For example, Britain leaving the European market and Donald Trump being elected the new president of The United States. As well as these global changes, each of us have experienced things that we can learn from.

What 3 valuable lessons did you learn in 2016 that can prepare you for a productive 2017 emotionally, physically and spiritually? It maybe helpful for you  to just take some time and reflect on your experiences so you can answer this question for yourself.

Always remember that no matter what you have been through a new beginning is ALWAYS possible but you have to put in the work so that your desire becomes a reality. Yes it may be painful but it will be worth it!!!!

Let me share 3 tips with you that will help you move into a new year.

1. Keep a log of and deal with your positive and negative mental chatter.

  1. How many times do you beat yourself up during the day?
  2.  Are you constantly thinking critical thoughts about yourself and others?
  3. How many positive thoughts do you have during the day?

What have you learnt about your mental processes and how will you move on from it?

2. Feed your mind with the thoughts, words and images that are most consistent with who you want to be, what you want to have and what you want to achieve.

Vision boards and affirmations are a great starting point.

3.Be determined to create a new beginning for yourself  .

Creating a new beginning for yourself has nothing to do with your age. You can begin again at any age and at anytime. Cultivate a new beginning by  learning from any mistakes you made in 2016.

My prayer is that these 3 tips will assist you in building in a better 2017.

Below is a blog post I wrote which will encourage you to over come any fears you may have about 2017. Please also comment, like and subscribe to my blogs!

Conquer Your Fears ~ Enter Your Destiny! Overcoming Your Fears

What would you do if you had no fear? – Challenge

bible-verse-no-fears-4224203

What would you do if you had no fear? Get a piece of  paper and a pen and write down 3 things you would do if you had no fear.

Ok now look at  what you have written as ask yourself these questions. Write down the answers if you need to.

  1. Why am I allowing fear to stop me from achieving these 3 things?
  2. Why am I afraid?
  3. Will I allow my fears to hinder my future?
  4. What am I going to do about it?

This is my challenge to you and remember your fears are shielding you from your destiny.

Conquer Your Fears ~ Enter Your Destiny! Overcoming Your Fears

bible-verse-no-fears-4224203

Over coming our fears is an important factor to entering our destiny or trying something new. Fear keeps you in the same place day after day, week after week and before you realise it years have gone by and you have made no progress in life.

Below are three things to consider when taking steps to overcome your fears.

  1. If your fears are a result of things you have done in the past take a moment to repent and ask God to forgive you (1 John 1:9) and move on. Remember it is also important to forgive yourself.
  2. Getting adequate sleep in critical as not getting enough can cause depression, anxiety and impedes functions spiritually, emotionally and physically.
  3. Talking to some one can bring relief to situations that we are facing. Having another persons’ perspective can help evaluate situations. Counselling is another option to consider if professional help is needed.

I John 4:18 say “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”  Fear will keep you in torment and not able to enjoy the perfected love of Christ.

So my challenge to you today is to deal with your fears before it deals with you and steals the inner treasure of your heart.

Conquer your Fears. Enter your Destiny~ Intro

bible-verse-no-fears-4224203

During the month of October I shared on periscope ( download the app and follow me @jenny_allen) about conquering your fear so you can enter your destiny. Over the next few weeks I will be blogging some of this content.

All of us have fears, anxieties about life and how we manage them is critical.  Firstly, fear can be defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain or harm. Other words that can be used in place of the word fear are terror, fright, horror, alarm, dread and distress. The power of these words can paralyse anyone from entering their destiny.

What fears do you have that is keeping you in the same place? What is keeping you from taking that step of faith? Only you can answer that question!

Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the thoughts that I think towards you , saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

This is one of my favourite verses because it speaks of God’s thoughts towards me. The way He thinks about me is different to how everyone else thinks of me.

People will always have their opinion about how you look, what you do, what you say, your background, your work etc but ultimately it is what God thinks about you that counts.  His thoughts are beautiful towards you and his aim is to give you hope and build your faith in the situations you face in life.

Think it not strange dear one regarding the trials ( 1 Peter 1:7) you are currently going through because they form part of your journey of life. God is not shocked or surprised and he has promised to walk on the waters with you. Just take his hand in prayer, praise and meditation of His word.

The Gift

When are you going to start believing, acknowledging, using and releasing the gifts that God placed inside of you? To continue to bury or deny these gifts is to deny and bury  the uniqueness God placed inside of you.

Psalms 34:4-6 shares how David sought the Lord and the Lord heard him and delivered him from all his fears. If your fears, lack of confidence and low self-esteem is keeping you from cultivating your gifts then you need to cry out in prayer as David did and ask God to deliver you from your fears. God can and will deliver you from your insecurities and fears if you ask him.

Your gifts are necessary, the people you need to touch are waiting, the holy spirit of God is waiting. When are you going to release the gift?

Lord Rebuild Me

Nehemiah chapter 4 talks of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. It was a burden to Nehemiah who was a cupbearer to the king. He came and gathered the people, as verse 6 says they had a mind to work.

As women we build families, children, careers, homes etc.  We build everything  around us and we forget to build ourselves. We give give give and before you realise it many years have passed and the strength we once has is gone. Many times we give to our own detriment.

It is time to ask God to rebuild you, to put back into you what you have lost. Reconstruction needs to take place. Ask God to send builders into your life who can speak words into your spirit that build you and repair the waste places in your life.

Do not allow what you have gone through to destroy your divine value.  You are too important to remain broken and hidden……. Let the construction begin!

Restoration of your Honour and Dignity

Psalms 71:21 ~ Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

We have all had situations in our life where we have suffered a loss of greatness, honour and dignity. these can include our work, family, marriage, relationships, business and church.

God has promised to restore our dignity, honour and greatness for each loss we have suffered. He restored the honour of Joseph in Genesis 41 and Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 and chapter 2:20-22. These are great examples of restoration.

Ask God in prayer to restore your honour, dignity and greatness. The humiliation you experienced in the past is not a picture of how your future will be. Like Hannah and Joseph you will be restored. Receive courage and faith from the vindication they received from God.

Your future is bright so start celebrating.

Transitioning Alone

image from www.linkedin.com

As the earth continues to spin on its axis our lives also continue to spin. No twenty four hour period is the same. A mobile phone we used in 1999 will not work in 2016. Today’s latest iPhone will not work in 2025, why?? because of transitions.

Life is consistently changing and whether we like it or not we are adapting to it. We have to or we will not be able to live our daily life. During periods of transitions it is also a time for us to evaluate our relationships and ask ourselves will this relationship allow me to transition with them or will I have to transition alone?

It can be a scary thought but it is something we all at one point or another in our life have to consider. Transitioning alone is daunting but if we are to fulfill our destinies or God given vision then it may have to be a step we may have to take.

We do not want to look back over our life and see regret littered along the way because of fear of taking a step. Take this opportunity to consider your relationships, prayerfully evaluate them and decide if they can walk with you or will you have to transition alone.

Mental Health Awareness Week 16th to 22nd May 2016 – Encouragement from My Heart to Yours

Mental Health Awareness week is 16th to 22nd May 2016 and I wanted to write a post about mental health that would encourage someone who maybe experiencing mental health challenges, especially in the church setting.

I have been in church for over forty years and it is only in recent years that the church is becoming comfortable with discussing mental issues.

So many people suffer in silence in church because it is not discussed from the pulpit or the stigma of it is too much for them to bear in their community.

MIND (www.mind.org.uk) the organisation that offers support to sufferers and their family, lists reasons why people suffer from periods of poor mental health. They include:

The following factors could potentially trigger a period of poor mental health:

  • childhood abuse, trauma, or neglect
  • social isolation or loneliness
  • experiencing discrimination and stigma
  • the death of someone close to you
  • severe or long-term stress
  • unemployment or losing your job
  • social disadvantage, poverty or debt
  • homelessness or poor housing
  • caring for a family member or friend
  • a long-term physical health condition
  • drug and alcohol misuse
  • domestic violence or other abuse as an adult
  • significant trauma as an adult, such as military combat, being involved in a serious accident or being the victim of a violent crime
  • physical causes – for example, a head injury or a condition such as epilepsy can have an impact on behaviour and mood (it is important to rule out causes such as this before seeking further treatment for a mental health problem)
  • genetic factors – researchers are currently investigating whether there might be a genetic cause of various mental health problems but there is no clear proof yet.

The first thing I want to encourage you with is that Jesus came to set you free. I love how Luke 4:18 reads in the Amplified bible.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (the Messiah), Because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent Me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy),”

This dear heart is what Jesus has for you; this is what he died for, for you to be whole in your mind and body. He came to release you from the trappings and pain of your past.

If you need to seek professional help then please ensure that you do, but I just wanted to let you know that you are loved and appreciated and a new day awaits you. The best in life is ahead of you so please do not allow the pain of your past to keep you caged, isolated and alone. Jesus promised to never leave you nor forsake you, he promised to be with you always. Believe that with me today.

Prayer

Father, right now I lift up to you anyone who is reading this blog post and is having mental health challenges. I pray restoration and healing for their mind and life. Father, minister to them in a unique and tangible way that they will know that you love and care about them. Touch them like only you can do Lord in Jesus name. AMEN
